Food Justice Garden volunteer day
- When
- Tue 2 Jun 2026 · 12:00 PM
- Where
- Food Justice Garden, behind Martin Luther University College
A BSA outreach initiative with LSPIRG, the Laurier Students' Public Interest Research Group. We spent the afternoon at the Food Justice Garden: touring the grounds and learning the garden's history, planting seeds, identifying different crops, and talking about food over snacks.
The day was built around three goals. Combating food waste, by learning how to keep produce fresh and stop food waste at home. Decentralizing food systems, by growing food that goes straight back to our peers through the Distro program instead of relying on high-emission supply chains. And safeguarding green spaces, by showing that grassroots projects last when students work together to protect them.
As part of our outreach, we gathered volunteers and created the marketing materials for the day, including these posters, to bring more students out and raise awareness of food justice.
